Great capture, Ken. I agree about the pano crop, as it will focus the viewers' eyes on the subjects. Regarding white balance, it doesn't matter if you are shooting raw files, as it is just a suggestion / starting point to work with. I much prefer to let the camera figure it all out, because I am going to change it anyway in post production. The problem with presets is the normal gap between color temps is too far, and thus not that specific anyway. Granted, a custom white balance can be nice but most likely more of a benefit to a studio photographer than a nature photographer. My thought is that white balance is actually a creative tool, and not a scientific tool. Just my $.02.
