    Default Green Hermit

I haven't posted here in a long time... I just recently got back from a long weekend in Costa Rica and had the opportunity to shoot some hummingbirds with Greg Basco. This female green hermit and a male would make the rounds and stop by every 45 minutes or so and got lucky enough to capture them on occasion. I'm not quite sure why there isn't a thumbnail...

Details:Shutter speed: 1/125 sec, Aperture: 16, Exposure mode: Manual, Flash: External E-TTL, Metering mode: Evaluative, Drive mode: Single frame shooting, ISO: 250, Lens: EF70-200mm f/2.8L USM, Focal length: 135mm.

Sounds like you had fun, and this is an awesome species...your wait paid off. Great looking plant too. I like the overall concept of the image. The lightest flowers look great, but the rest of the image is dark - was that the feel you were going for? I wish the eye was more visible, and perhaps more room left and right (left to include the complete clipped leaf, and right to balance out the new added space).

I'm not quite sure why there isn't a thumbnail...
For some reason, ever since the forum upgrade, thumbnails are not being generated for linked images (as opposed to uploaded images). Still working on this quirk.

The Green Hermit is a beautiful hummer! The flower is nicely illuminated, but I find the rest of the image a little dark (in particular the bird's head). How many flashes were you using, and in what kind of arrangement? I agree with Daniel about adding canvas on the right and left, with maybe a bit more up top to balance things out.
