"Nature Interpreted" - Photography begins with your mind and eyes, and ends with an image representing your vision and your reality of the captured scene; photography exceeds the camera sensor's limitations. Capturing and Processing landscapes and seascapes allows me to express my vision and reality of Nature.

Artie, YAW!
I can't comment on what I like about the update separate from the guide itself. To do so warrants a comparison page by page; not necessary!
One item of note before addressing the guide:
The original: 43 pages; 27 text and 16 plain images
The update: 115 pages; 48 text and 67 pages of images with teaching text
No comparison; thanks for doing the hard yards.
What I like about the guide:
1. It is presented logically both in the technical data and your in the field experiences intermixed with the technical data.
2. The images are teachers. Not everyone can be out there shooting everyday; not everyone can either afford lots of IPTs, or are located where the IPTs are given. I am in Australia; your teaching images are the second best thing to attending IPTs.
3. As you know and have experienced I have one of the thickest and hardest heads on BPN. It simply takes me awhile to "get it". I still don't have something as simple as exposure down pat. I do not see the tonal differences between average 18% grey and tones within 1 stop of 18% grey. The ability to study your images for me is a significant step towards understand EC.
As an aside, and as a plug for your excellent blog, your comments on 4 December 2010 regarding Working In Manual Mode, were very helpful to me in seeing MM in a different "light".
4. In another life you were a full-time teacher; in this life, as demonstrated in this update and in BAAI and II, you are still a full-time teacher; just a different subject.
Anyone with a camera body that you have written on, e.g., 7D and 1D4 (I even bought the 1D4 for what I might learn and I do not yet have the 1D4), that doesn't buy your guide is simply, IMHO, being penny wise and pound foolish.
Happy Holidays
Cheers, Jay
