    Default Soaking wet Cheetahs

It is not always sunny in Kenya as this image shows. It poured down on several afternoons this year which represented another challenge photographically.

There was no way that I was going back to camp, even though the teaming rain looked set for the rest of the day. The Cheetahs were moving so I stayed to watch and record their behaviour, inching the ISO up as it got darker.

There are more images from this years Kenya trip HERE

    C&C welcome.

Austin. Good for you! I wouldn't be able to go back to camp either if I had opportunities to photograph cheetahs. This is a very nice and unusual behavioral image. As much as I like looking at these cats, I wonder how it would look if you eliminated the observing cat and focused in on the cat shaking the water off it's face.

I like the setting/atmosphere/mood on this one Austin, for me, having the two works well and aids your story.

Do you think the bodies have a fraction too much magenta in them (?), but the greens/vegetation looks spot on, just in case it's one that is going to Bebing..., that's if you haven't withdrawn your entries already, LOL. :D

    Cheers

works well indeed Austin! love the shake. I'm not seeing the magenta but I'm not viewing on the best monitor tonight :)

might shave a wee bit off the top?

There's something about a rain shower that can capture some fine images Austin, love the head shake and associated raindrops.
I'm seeing the magenta cast on my cal monitor, quite evident on the two Cheetah's coats....an easy fix.
Was this the mum with the two 10/11 month old boys?
Having just spent 4 weeks in Kenya & Tanzania and your mention of cloudy/rainy days, all up we had only 3/4 days of clear skies.

Austin - the shake really makes this image. I also like that we can see the rain drops. Well done (btw I also see the cast).

    Hi Marc,

Thanks for your feedback and Yes, these are part of the same family of three. I have images of all three together, but not three with one shaking its head.

    Cheers

This image has great appeal. The strong rain streaks, shake off, and the very wet cats is superb. Magenta cast as noted. Excellent work.

Austin, the rain adds a lot to this, as its not something we see and capture every day. Well timed to capture the shaking head, and I like the DOF. I would maybe play with the colour balance on the cheetah's and see if you come up with anything different.
