I was glad to capture this Kudu bull in the open. Taken in Kruger National Park a few weeks ago.

All Antelopes are beautiful and some are also majestic, a Kudu fits this description aptly.

Rarely seen this clearly you have got a classic image here, in particular the sheen on the horns, which often leads to blown highlights.

I must also mention the eye and the fact that you have picked up the white hairs on the back.

I am sure that the closeness of the bush to the head will be mentioned, but I do not mind it at all.

This is a gorgeous image of the Kudu. The bush by the head is a bit distracting and maybe a bit less DOF would have made it less so, but I don't really mind it either. I'm even more impressed that you were at 47mm so you must have been pretty darn close!

A quality record of a splendid animal Stuart.

The light looks good with the long shadows that we can see and that has given a pleasant warm tone overall.

A larger aperture would have helped the distractions in the background however, the wider angle of view shows the environment and habitat.

    Cheers

Looks like you were out with the polish for those horns Stu, good detail overall and a great looking beast. Agree with Austin, the image has a nice overall warmth/tone to it. Good choice of lens too.

Had the tree to the left of the head been struck by lightening or fire?

Lovely lighting here Stuart with (as Steve has mentioned) the sheen on his horns really standing out.
