    Default Lone Leaf

    Here's another water image from just the other day. The white is from the clouds that were blowing through that morning. I cloned out some small particulates from the water and recropped it to get the leaf into the ROT's position. Other than that, a slight contrast adjustment to bring out all the tones and shades in the water and then my usual surface blur/sharpening.

    Jules, This is my favorite of your water image series. Since this is a learning forum I must insist that you insert something in your images to for us to criticize!:o...........Seriously, the soft colors, and that wavy reflection leading me straight to the leaf is captivating. Now, I might blend in that lighter streak at the top, but that's small potatoes. That blue hue is simply wonderful. Good eye.......on this one.

    The colors and textures in the water are very nice and the leaf is positioned well but I might be tempted to crop off the white streak at the top.

    Lovely! glad you are continuing to work with the leaf on water theme. I completely agree with Jay's comments.

    Thanks everyone...I also see that the top streak could be toned down a bit - missed that last night during my rush to pp this one. I'll give that a re-do.

    Jay, I'm actually surprised more people aren't wanting me to evict the leaf...I thought that would be the 'point of contention' in this one because it is below the surface of the water and not as "crisp" as some might want.

    Jules, the technical aspects of the leaf are not interesting to me, the fact that it is there is everything.! In this type of image it's not about sharp, it's more about expression and mood, imho. You know that Corona commercial, where the couple in the lounges are staring out to sea with Corona's in hand?................that's what this image wants me to do.:):):) So, go blend in the white and let's have ourselves a beer!

    It has all been said and I agree :). Just beautiful. However instead of blending that white streak in I would probably just crop that top bit off. I like that my eye flows up to the leaf and dreamily out of the frame. Even with the white streak becoming blue my eye is brought back to that stipe. I want to join you with that beer and just keep gazing off to the horizon .

    Hi Jules;

    Love that your continuing on with the leaf. I love it. Yes, you placed the leaf on the top line of the third, I prefer it on the bottom line as in my thoughts I think it depicts motion in the river. In a pond it would make me think of a slow aimless drift.

    Just remember: "You can always tell a Swede, but you can't tell him much."

    Keep smiling, Young Lady.

    Hi Julie, very nice comp. It does make you want to sit and watch the leaf float on by - and as Jay said have a beer!

    Beautiful!
    The light on the surface is super!
    I agree with Nancy, I think a crop on the top would do it.
