    Default Zebra close-up

Most people think zebras are black and white, but they also have browns and grays, so I converted this to Black & White via PS. Then I adjusted with curves, levels and a little Topaz pop. Because I had to go down to only 42% quality for web image it seems the details are a little coarser than I had originally. However I really wanted the eyelashes to show as well as the white hairs visible over the black stripes.

    c & c very welcome.

Nancy, Very cool looking image. I love zebras and their skins have so much texture and interest to me. Too bad about the 42%. I bet the original is awesome. Nice image for the theme.

    Nice image and application, Nancy.

Like Denise, one of my favorite subjects. The patterns are so interesting and do not duplicate.

    Nice one.

A very nice image Nancy. I like where you placed the eye in the frame. I think it works well.

I agree with everyone else...I'm sure this is superb in full resolution. Nice placement of the eye in the frame and the texture in the stripes is incredible. I wish my eyelashes looked this good! :D

Very well done. Its the kind of an image where you just feel like looking at it for a long time and then get lost in it. Such a terrific comp.

Thank you everyone! The zebras at Etosha National Park in Namibia were wonderfully photogenic and cooperative, and since people are not allowed to get out of their cars my mostly tolerant husband did a heroic job of positioning the car every which way and that for me :).

Very nice, Nancy! Love the pattern of the zebra's stripes, and great texture. I'm sure the detail is fabulous at full resolution. :) Well done!
