    Default Black-capped Chickadee

Very overcast day... Catch-light from off camera flash. Critiques appreciated, especially post-process suggestions.

I like it Steve, the DOF. pose and muted colors. I spent some time with the chickadees in my yard today and really appreciate all you have here! It's very peaceful.

Beautiful image...nicely handled.....detail in feathers, bg, overall sharpness. I especially like the the way the colors of the perch are repeated in the bird. You might consider adding a bit more canvas to the LHS and possibly flipping the image horizontally. Nice image!

Steve, what a delightful image! These birds aren't easy to get right with their black heads and white "sideburns". You did very well here! Nice pose and a good HA/catch light combo. Everything is sharp and in focus from head to tail.

The area directly under his beak looks extremely black - you might try bringing that up a bit with either a curves adjustment or a shadow/highlight adjustment. Same with the shadow on his breast area. I think it's natural to see a shadow there but it doesn't have to be quite that dark if you can adjust it and open it up a bit more.

Overall, I like the image very much. It would be nice to have a different color BG but it is what it is - at least it's well blended and non-evasive. Congrats on a beautiful catch. Some small tweaks should bring out all the best in this beauty!

Great perch and BG. I like the colours too. The black and white on these birds seems to be almost at opposite ends of the tonality scale which makes exposure difficult. For me the image would have more interest if the head were turned slightly towards the sensor plain.

Well exposed beautiful detail. Perch interesting but not overwheliming For me the bkgr matches well w the bird. I agree with John, little head turn would then nearly perfect for me.
