Default Snow Monkey Mother and Child

Here is another image from my trip to Japan. The mother looks at her baby while steam rises around them from the hot spring.

I did not have any eye contact but thought the look from the mother to the child was compelling. Also, wish I have some more DOF here. I'd be interested in your comments.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Wonderful image, Steve. Love the soft misty look, yet it is sharp in the faces where it needs to be. There is a lot of emotion conveyed by this image.

Nice emotive capture. The softness caused by the steam only enhances the tender moment.

    More DOF..........maybe but.........
Sweet as is! Very strong. In this instance, mother looking at you/or us.......would take away from this one.
    Great shot,

    Hi Steve,

I'm not picking on you :)
Pardon this repost if it's not too good, working from laptop and I can't see that well.
I ran a curves adjustment for more contrast. Then went to Selective Color and added a bit of blacks to Neutrals. At the end, selected the left half of the image and did a curves adjustment again, darker. Hope it looks good.
Going for Spoonbills again, see you all later :)
You don't need eye contact here, the interaction is with each other, and great. Congrats on a fine image!

    Steve,

It is a beautiful image, either the way you presented it or with Fabs repost.
But I think I prefer your original image - the softness, sense of fog, adds to the mood.

    Hi Fabs:

I like part of what you did and not too crazy about the other part. I like how you darkened the left, it gives more depth and contrast and diverts the eye where it needs to be diverted. You did this on my last image and, as with this one, it adds quite a bit. This has been a good lesson to me in how to look at that aspect of an image. So thanks, I am really learning from you aobut being better at "seeing'.!!!!

The part I'm not crazy about is what Ivan points out. I wanted to leave in some of the softness caused by the steam along with the slight muting of the color. Your rendition goes beyond what I intended and is, I believe, simply an artists preference issue. However, I'd love to have others chime in on this. I'm learning a lot!!!!

Very powerful image. I like the original image better as the corrected imnage loses someof the moodiness IMHO.
