I believe this is a male Maasai Ostrich in breeding colors. He came very close to our Land Rover in Ngorogoro Crater so I couldn't resist a head shot. He doesn't look all that handsome to me but he had three females who were flirting like crazy, so to each his own, I guess.;)

    C&C encouraged and greatly appreciated.

Wonderful image Katie. Love the intimacy of it, his weathered bill and the BG. Just a small tip if OK, maybe since you have so much shutter speed, try and close the aperture down a stop or two to get more DOF - it would look great with the skin on the neck in sharp focus and perhaps a stop or two could have made all the difference. A very pleasing shot overall. :)

Thank you, Akos...I appreciate your helpful feedback. I'm still struggling to make myself slow down and think about what settings I want to use in order to achieve the result I envision.

No worries Katie! It's all a learning process for all of us. :)

Stopping down would have gotten more DOF but I do like this shot as is....TFS.

Sharp where it needs to be Katie, I love this one. The eye is nicely illuminated and the tip of the bill is looking good!

Gorgeous portrait nice and sharp with a beautiful bg. I really like the 3D feel to this as it pops off my monitor. Well Done!!!!! I hope you are doing well.:)
