Decided on a pano crop for this one to show the water explosions left behind as the bird ran on top of the water with those bloated toes. Shot from ground level in evening light. I have a tighter cropped version on my website to show the detail in the bird.

    Great DOF control and sharpness.

Like the pano presentation but for me, the bird is too far left. I might have cropped this right behind the first major running splash and had more room in front of the subject for it to move into.

Thanks Jim, that's the crop I have on my site. Appreciate the feedback.

Love the pano crop, the subject placement, the action, the light and just about everything else in this image.

I also like the crop....although it is running out of the frame the wake of water is captivating and is the essence of the image and deserves to be included. Absolutely gorgeous bokah and color of background.

    Fantastic.
    cheers

Alan, I like the crop as presented. Very unique. The silvery blue BG is out of the charts. Coot-run-on-water, although common, is a low percentage shot in my opinion as many things have to happen right. This one has it all.....the low angle, bird parallel, sweet BG, raised wing, one foot out, splashes, exposure...brilliant!

Do you use skimmer pod for these? On bean bag, I find it quite hard to execute.
