Here is another Gorilla from Rwanda, .
I plan to post one or 2 more beforme moving on to another topic.

Umwumba is one of the females of the Umubano Group (or family). She lives with her mate, the dominant Silverback Charles and another two females (one of which is Umurimo that has nasty looking teeth that was shown in a previous post). Individual Gorillas get identified by their unique nose/nostrils which are conceptually similar to a "fingerprint".

Umwumba is a litlle larger than Umurimo (about 110kg/240 lbs and 5 ft 3/1.65 mt). She has an offspring that was somehwere else when this picture was taken.

Claude I like the relaxed pose here, exposure on the blacks is good, and the focus is on the pin-sharp eyes for me. IF anything I would have liked a little more space at the bottom to include the entire arm that is used for support.

oh, and welcome to BPN! :)

I don't think you can beat that moment when a gorilla peers deep into your lens and you feel a real connection.
That moment has been well captured here Claude.

Getting the direct look such as this is a big plus and it is conveyed well here. An even tighter shot of the face (or crop) would be good.

I agree with Marc and Robert - the eye contact is great.

Congrats on getting a clear view; I've been there and can relate to the challenge of trying to get a good angle, light, etc. wonderful experience, though.

Your Gorilla shots are improving as we go along. This is even better than the last one.

It is a pity that you did not the hands/legs in but it does not bother me that much.

I think that Roberts idea of a tighter crop may work very well, but if you leave everything in that needs to be left in then it may end up very square, I have no objection to square crops but others may.
