Wow, this one is sure sweet, the pose, HA, the sharpness and the creamy BG. It all works for me, TFS, how did you construct your blind? Is this pine warbler around all season? ann

This is quite lovely Maureen. Congratulations. The pose, lookback HA, sharpness and BG are all spot-on IMO. The only think I might try is shaving a bit off the right, but it's a small comment.

Great to see this species too!

Thank you for the nice comments.

Ann, the pine warbler is a year round resident in Central FL. My blind is actually my backyard shed. There is a window on one side, overlooking a vacant lot next to my home. I set up the area with birdfeeders, loose seed and suet cakes on old branches and stumps and a birdbath about 10-12 feet from the shed. The only drawback is that I have to share my space with the tractor, the leafblower and a few old cans of paint :D
The birds definitely know I'm there (several of them have flown up to the windowsill to say hello), but it doesn't keep them away.

Well Done Maureen - have waited for a good pose and it has paid off. Lots to like here and the green in the LLBC and TRHC balance the image nicely.
    Good work :)

Not only did you get a great pose and a lovely exposure but that BG is killer, girl! Those pastel colors really set off the vibrant yellow. This is one sweet warbler image!

    Maureen,

I agree, great head angle and BG is killer. I feel you needed some more sharpening and downloaded it to be sure. SO decided to repost it. BG copy USM at 125/.3/0.

To me the feather detail is much better. BTW, I always get color skewing on reposts so disregard that). Thanks for posting.

Julie - thanks for the comments.

Robert - Thank you for taking the time to rework this. To me, your repost looks washed out and there's a lot of noise in the BG (perhaps that's what you meant by color skewing.) But the feather detail is better, so I understand your point. I do seem to have a problem judging how much sharpening I should be doing. I suspect I tend to be too cautious in that area because I think oversharpened images look so - sharpened. In your view, is this a matter of experience/practice or are there some hints you can provide that would assist in my getting an image sharp enough but not too much? How do you make that judgment?

really beautiful Maureen, I love that bill --- I like the increased feather detail in Robert's repost - i know what you mean about trying to judge how much sharpening to do. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do...

    Hey Maureen,
OP was VG and the added sharpness on the repost makes this a winner for sure! Very nicely done!!!

    Maureen,

Repost looks great. Yes, the loss of saturation is what I was referring too. I could have increased saturation to compensate but I was only commenting on the sharpness which you have done quite well in the repost.
