I'm another one of those photographers that's really good at staying behind the camera so I don't have anything recent. This is from about 5 years ago and is of me and my high-tech turtle wrangling equipment. ;)

I'll take a self portrait and will post it some time in the future, when you least expect it!

Hey Ken - good to see your smiling face! I've had a lot of experience with these critters over the years and I know exactly why you are holding it well away from your leg!:D

Hi Ken, nice to meet you! Turtle wrangling is serious business and it looks like you are up to the task!

Ken, its great to see your face out from underneath that hat! That is one BIG turtle you have there! How do they get along with the horses? Do each stay out of the way of the other?

The turtles are the ones that have to watch out. They tend to wander through the pastures looking for new ponds and I doubt if the horses really notice them so there's the chance a turtle could get trampled. I'm originally from Southern California so finding large water turtles wandering around my yard still seems weird to me! To date I've found 5 large Snappers walking around the property and also dozens of Sliders.

The one in this pic was my first and I caught on an artificial lure while fishing in one of my ponds. It was like reeling in a rock! After taking lots of pics of it being nasty, it was released, relatively unharmed. :)
