    Default Thank you!

Thank you for the kind words and also the identification. I would appreciate any ID criteria you can share. I searched my references, and it seemed like it could fit several of many descriptions and I know that it is because of my inexperience in bird identification.

John, basically I start with what birds are likely to be found in the area and the time of year. I guess the birds would be a RTHA, a broadwing ?, swainsons or rough legged. Both the broadwing and swainsons are migratory and should not be present and the bird has no typical roughlegged feathered legs and the shape is all wrong for a roughlegged.
It isn't an adult RT as you can see the banding still present on the tail and there is no red or rufous colour on the tail showing. It has the typical brown streaking on the side of the breast of an immature and has the pale eyes you would expect of a juvenile.
Hope this is what you had in mind.
By the way did I get it right?
