In preparation for my upcoming Bosque trip, I was watching / listening to a DVD by Dewitt Jones this afternoon. He and Galen Rowell would be idols of mine if I allowed myself that kind of behavior  ok... so maybe I allow it a little.

    Paraphrasing Dewitt-

Amateur question: How many good ones did you get per 36 exposure roll?
Professional question: Did you get the shot?

    and

from Robert Frost, the last 8 lines of Two Tramps in Mud Time:

But yield who will to their separation,
My object in living is to unite
    My avocation and my vocation
As my two eyes make one in sight.
Only where love and need are one,
And the work is play for mortal stakes,
Is the deed ever really done
For Heaven and the future's sakes.

    Hey Michael,

I love to tell my clients the story of the first time I went out to Bosque many, many, years ago (13, I think)......91 rolls of 36 exposure E100VS film......got them back and almost puked! A couple of handfulls of FF keepers with about 9 rolls of others. Almost got rid of camera but swore that it would never happen again!!!

Fast forward to last year....digital body and many years of practice now under my belt with the added benefit of the ISO preformance......in 3 hours 100's maybe even a 1000 keepers.... with only a handful of clear misses!!!

No substitute for practice, practice, practice......although ISO 800 has made life a bit easier as did the histogram!!!

    PS Galen was my inspiration!
