    In the process of the endless task of cleaning up my image files I found another Coucal in the open, albeit with a not very good background.

    Taken in Mapula Concession, Northern Concession 12th September 2008

    EOS 1D MkIII

    500mm F4 IS hand-held from open game viewing vehicle

    I like the softer light in this Ken, which in turn has brought out the colours so well. I would take this any day, as you have captured him in the open nicely. Separated from the BG too.

    Another special image of this shy species. I agree with Stuart and like the detail and exposure on the plumage also nice head position and eye contact. Great capture.

    I don't mind the BG at all Ken as these guys don't often sit in such an unobstructed position...well done in getting it so nicely exposed too

    Thanks for your kind comments, looking at it again, I do not mind the BG that much, it does as Morkel said reflect its natural habitat.

    Background looks fine to me Ken. Wonderful pose, maybe a little tight in the LRC, but light's great as is the overall handling of the opportunity IMHO. :)
