This was taken late afternoon from a bird hide, and I just liked the light and colours. I was hoping for some dripping water, but it never materialised.

That's one contented and relaxed Elephant, it is a pity that more images like this are not taken.

Reminds me of our boat trips on Lake Kariba.

Stuart - I like the behavior and the light looks nice. I also like the environment of the waterhole. Something looks a little strange in the darker green grass at the water's edge on the left side. Also might consider taking a little off the rhs.

Stuart - Did you do any cloning in that area? To me it looks sort of like a smudged line in the grass right above the water line. It's most pronounced directly in line with the rear feet. It looks strange to me because at the water line you can see defined blades of grass and then a fraction above it looks smudged.

Hi Rachel, I can see where you are talking about, and I can see how it looks smudged compared to the rest of the grass. I didnt touch that area for any reason. Here is the unedited RAW file.

I see what Rachel is referring too, but think it might just the be the shadow of whatever tree is falling there that is playing with our eyes?

nice relaxed pose and good sidelight here Stu...was this at Mankwe?

Beautiful image, love the relaxed feel of the elephant. Like the way you handled the crop.
