    Reworked a very messy background.

Fairy-wren are my favourite bird and this is my favourite local species.

However you did the BG it's pretty dang good Chris. Your bird's pose is superb, as is the detail rendition in the plumage. These are such little endearing creatures that just have a habit of not sitting still. well done on this capture mate. :)

A very good job on the background. I think, it could just be my mind playing tricks though, that i see some faint spots where you have worked it. Given the relative uniformity anyway, I wonder if running median in PS to smooth it out would work.

Concerning the bird, a really nice pose and great exposure. These are certainly beautiful birds.

Beautifull detail color and pose. Great image I would favor just a tad more room on the left.

Chris, you have the bird in a near perfect composition with his eye very close to a ROT's grid point. Well done! With a tail like that you can't really do the usual "put the extra room in front" crop because that would lead to a very unbalanced portrait. I think you did very well with your choice of crop.

I do think the bird is a bit underexposed here, though. If you look at your histogram you can see where there isn't much light data until almost the midpoint. I opened a levels adjustment and ran that white slider towards the middle a bit more so it opened up some of the lighter tones in the image. You also have a tiny bit of clipping on the black end where your darkest tones are but it's very minimal. If you open the image up in RAW you could probably recover that little bit of lost data there as well.

There is a little bit of "see through" in the two top corners where you didn't quite get the BG cleaned up. Just need to do a quick clone over those two corners from what I can tell and you'll have a super image. These birds are quite incredible to look at and I'm sure a challenge to photograph. My hat is off to you!

Thanks Julie:) I quiet like the tweaking you did. You've really brightened it up and added a bit of life to the image.
I will have a fiddle myself for a final print version.

    Cheers:D
