    Default Lotus Blossom Blur

I used a photo of a lotus leaf as a background for the blossom and leaf to hide distracting plants around the subject. I applied PB blur to the image to create a soft blur which created the edge effect.

    Nice image and application, Judy.

I would have like to try to have the stem more apparent, if it were mine, but nice image as is.

Very nice, Judy. The soft blur is very lovely, and I like the color combination. Great idea to replace the BG.

Judy, I love the colors and the leaf is special. I think that the stoke/vignette/border thing is a little distracting since it is uneven. Not sure if it was your intention. Nice work as usual.:)

Hi Judy, lovely colors and blur to this one, Agree with Denise on the border being a little distracting.

Wonderful colors and luminance here. I like the lines and flow. The main distraction for me is the upper left corner--I would clone out that one vertical line, and even out the colors. Agree with Denise about border. A creative approach.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I guess I'm the only one who thinks the border is cool! It was created by the blur filter, I didn't do it intentionally. I created the image back in late summer and was waiting for this theme to post it. I might try something different on the version I saved w/out the blur as it would crop too tight if I just remove it.

If you like the border, don't pay any attention to those of us who don't. It is your image and your vision. For me, the border is not a big deal in this image.

Here's another version, only a slight blur, cropped the edges and then I did an Orton effect (more or less). Then used PB oil paint at minimum setting.

I like both versions, but like the second a bit better. I think less of a blur works well, and, of course, I like the cleaned up URC. In the second image the focus seems to be more on the flower. Good work!
