Here is another shot of a jay in the back garden. As usual I didn't get the ideal pose but at least he is doing something, I hope to get the head turn before too long - well before my acorns run out anyway!

Jonathon I really like this one, especially with the blue wing flash on show and the acorn. Your composition also really works for me.

Some very very minor things: Did you do a bit of cloning in the lower right by the perch? there are a couple of bits that don't quite look perfect yet. If you're doing some cloning anyway, I might consider removed the white droppings by the bird's tail and foot.

    Overall, great!

Geoff I did little cloning at the junction of the moss and background - where there is is fine twig, it was to hide a peanut. I could kick myself regards the droppings becasue I have just modied a similar image where I did clear up the mess!

Jon, tell me he didnt swallow that acorn. Good light and colours, and well timed to capture the behaviour.

You're almost there, Jonathan. Your perch and background are fine, the jay is attractive, he's eating something . . . now all you need is a shot of him in profile. Easier said than done, I know.
