Default Sheriff of the Old West

At the Civil War reenactment that I went to, there was a civilian camp, called Camp Unity, representing the civilians who would follow the armies, such as the sutlers and the soldiers' wives. Anyway, when I saw this sheriff in Camp Unity, I immediately thought of a sheriff of the old west and knew I had to get a photo.

I applied four of my textures and three from Shadowhouse Creations, "Latte," "Painted Canvas 1," and "Rubbings." Any comments and suggestions would be most appreciated!

Wonderful!!!!! Great portrait to start with, and excellent pp. I love those squinting eyes especially, as well as the hair and clothes. The only little thing I might change is to soften the shadow on the top brim of the hat--seems a bit harsh and dark. This is my favorite of the ones you've submitted for this theme.

Thanks, Anita. I tried softening the shadow a bit as you suggested on this repost. Let me know what you think.

I think this does the job. Now the shadow is the same darkness as other parts of the clothing. Beautiful work!!!!

Christopher, Very nice work. The aging process and toning looks great. Nice rugged yet gentle look to the subject.

Beautiful portrait, Christopher. I like the deep gaze. I do think softening the shadow helps. Overall I like the top lit effect. Love the aged texture here.

I really like this one! I like the way some of the edges look like silvering. It's a great portrait!
