    I've never been this close without them running away. He was near the road and seemed curious about me.

    Sharpness right where it counts (on eye) and even at f/2.8 good DOF (nose acceptably sharp).

    Whites look a bit hot. I would try adjusting the color temperature up a touch to warm up the image.

    I agree with Roberts comments about WB, I think a slight warming would boost this image greatly.

    I personally like the cool look, goes well with the sage and the green BG. What time of year was this taken?
