    Default Hermit Thrush

I created this image last month when out with a few fellow photographers in Britannia Woods in the west end Ottawa. We used a recording to draw several of these thrushes out from the underbrush. I would have preferred a lower angle but their appearance was often fleeting so I took what I could get.

Canon EOS 40D, Sigma 50-500 mm at 500 mm, Flash Used: No, Exposure Time: 0.0025 s (1/400)
    Aperture: f/6.3
    ISO Equiv.: 640

Excellent detail on this bird, Stephen. The angle looks fine to me. If the bird's head had been turned a bit more away from you, that would have been ideal, but the post you captured is still attractive with good eye contact.

The plant in the LRC is a distraction to me - I would have cloned it out, but the image works as is.

I'm going to second what John said. A better head angle and the removal of the second plant would help this image. Details and exposure are very good.

A sweet bird with great detail and I like the bg...the rest has already been said.

Thank you John. I debated about the staghorn branch but decided to leave it in to see what others thought.

    Thank you too Katie.

The verdict's in: Lose the branch.

I really like the subdued lighting. I too agree with the recommendations, and I would also get rid of the small bright streak across your name and the one half way between that and the perch. Good details and I like the overall brownish tones.
