    Default Cheetah treetop lookout

    Attached Images Attached Images

This is one of two 10 month old Cheetah bros who decided to climb this tree just like a leopard and quite high, some 5-6 metres in fact.
The light was fading fast with a storm on the way.
I have gone for a portrait crop here and it may also work in it's original landscape framing (showing more of it's body), if allowed I'll show the original in a response and let you guys decide.

    C & C most welcome

    Cheers

Marc - I love this comp as is but I believe you are allowed to post the original comp in the same thread for comparison purposes and advice on comp.

    Marc,

I love the pose but either it is slightly oversharpened (new glasses?) or it is a large crop and the IQ is suffering a bit.

This is F/F landscape version here Ken, so when uploading the Jpeg on my OP it may have over sharpened?

    Marc,

The IQ certainly looks good enough to support the crop, I sometimes get confused as to why the JPEG looks different from what uploads on here, but generally mine are not sharp enough.

    Keep the original crop.

    Marc,

OP crop is just perfect. The balance of the tree with the cat's head works just great.

Hi Marc, original comp but slightly less at the top for me. Think the hi ISO & sharpening has has some effect on the final output and crop sadly for me. Like the thinking.

I think the original was just a tad oversharpened...I love the in-camera compo the best, would shave some off the top and RHS - nice one Marc!

    Thanks Morkel
Are you saying the landscape original is oversharpened? Because only one round of selective USM was applied to this and none to my cropped portrait. It's something I try to be very aware of ie. too much USM :(.

I am leaning towards your portrait selection more. I enjoy just the 3 elements of the image ( sky ,tree ,subject) The LS version seams to be spot on with sharpness with the portrait version over sharpened a tad.

I like the OP also. It made me smile. The IQ looks ok on my monitor.
