Overcast skies after weeks of bright sunny weather finally arrived, and I took advantage of it!
The white pelicans, winter residents in Texas, arrived several weeks ago, but white birds and bright sunlight are a big problem so I had to wait. Comments and critique welcomed. Regards~Bill
William, this is LOVELY! I have to say this is one of the few times I've seen a white bird on a nearly white BG where it still managed to retain a bit of separation from its background. I believe having that tint of gray in the BG made all the difference.
Lovely light on the bird - I can't get over how much detail you managed to capture in the feathers - especially the tail - with no direct sunlight. You really outdid yourself on the exposure!
My small comments would be to clone out the one white spot on the stump it is standing on and see if you can't bring out that faint catch light in his eye just a little bit more with a curves adjustment to the eye.
Great job on this one, Bill. Fantastic detail on the whites and i really like the pose.
I see you are shooting with the A850 now. How do you like full frame? How do you think it compares with the A700?
