Default Snow Geese gliding in, in high key.

The main attraction at this spot is the full-frame flight images of single geese one can get, but not to be ignored is the awesome flock-in-flight opportunities. This one, while not showing the sheer numbers to be photographed, does offer a striking visual IMO. A couple of awkwardly cut geese were eliminated from the edges, and one merged behind the lowest of the three larger geese also eliminated (all via clone tool). A couple were left as is at the edges to imply a larger flock extending beyond the viewfinder (which it was!).

Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering (+2 stops off sky, and histogram checked), 1/640s., f/6.3, ISO 640, natural light, handheld, FF.

Hey Dan, I have yet to experience a mass gathering of any species of birds/ducks/geese, so this must be quite a sight. Were they all gliding as all their wing postures are in that position? High key works well.

very well done Daniel. These are not easy to pull off. Terrific similar wing positions in all.

Nice to have the proper exposure on the birds, and the composition of the group has a good energy, I think.

Daniel, this is very effective. I like the high key effect and that they all have the same wing positions. It's sharp and I like the flying-towards-you perspective that is enhanced by those three closest birds.

Hi Daniel, Nice shot of the flock. I think I'll have to check this location out next year. I really like the white-on-white look to this. If it were mine I think I would clone out the birds that were cut off at the edges of the frame. Well done!

Thanks Stuart (and evryone else). Yes, they were all gliding in to land nearby hence the wings all in the same position. You can see many of them have their landing gear deployed too.
