Some might say that there is too much on the bottom , but I feel that the water needs to be there as that is where the fish came from. The BG is killer as is the fact that the bird has a food item , which is always a plus. Just another wonderful image from one of the best in the field.

Super pose with the cocked tail, and looking so pleased to show off his catch. Good light, detail and sharpness, and I would maybe take a tad off the bottom.

Love this Alan. Masterful image, love the fact I can still see the water and the catch is a huge bonus. Did you set this up too?

Just perfect. Beautiful colors, pose, composition, background, sharpness... and the fish of course. If it was a setup I'd be curious to see a picture of it. JR

This was set up, but all I did was place this mossy log in the water where I saw the bird hunting. I waited and got very lucky.

Beautifully done. Perfect as always. The catch adds so much to this one.

This is a superlative image. I have repeatedly tried to get an image like this of a water ouzel without success. Now that I know that it can be done, I will keep trying. TFS

Classic image with wonderful pose, good exposure and feather detail without being oversharp, Love the perch and the greenery which just adds more to the image.
