    Default Hawk Owl from today.

    Model = Canon EOS-1D Mark II N
    Exposure Time = 1/1600"
    F Number = F8
    Exposure Program = Manual
    ISO Speed Ratings = 400
    Metering Mode = Spot
Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
    Focal Length = 400mm
    Exposure Mode = Manual exposure
    Around 70% of Frame
    Baited

Finally had some Sun to capture this gorgeous little Owl in today!

Was trying to get him with the nice colours in the BG. Also wanted the head on look.

Selected BG and Saturated without Saturating Owl. Selectively sharpened Owl. Branches and sensor dust cloned out.

You make daytime owl flight images seem so easy and you do it with such flair! I am totally envious of your skills and the opportunities you have with the owls. Headon shots are always impactful for me, great stuff. :)

very good! the background color gradation is very nice. The object is very sharp, indeed.
Sad, that you missed the right moment, though 8.5 fps of Mark II - the widely spread winds.

Who said I missed the moment? :) I liked this pose better though as it showed more movement to me. Thank you!

    Hi Jody,
Beautiful image. I love the eyes and the background adds a nice touch of color. Might I ask where you live that you can photograph these beautiful owls?
    Thanks,
    Jake
