    Default The lion family

Taken this month, early one morning in the Masai Mara.

The whole family had been playing and chasing each other in the cool morning air. You can probably make out the wet feet as the dew had not evaporated.

They started to walk towards my vehicle, which caused other vehicles in the area to move, so I had to wait until they were out of the background before recording this image. When I finished photographing I looked around at the neighbouring vehicles and it was a certain Angela Scott in the drivers seat.

Great mood captured here Austin, I like the paw symmetry also.
Looks like quite a few of us from BPN were around the Mara at a similar time. Our (Rekero) vehicle, I think was also here that morning, we also saw Jonathon Scott as well doing a piece (5 min short on how to improve your wildlife photography)
for the BBC fasttrack which funnily enough we saw on our Qantas return flight to Sydney.:D
Was this the morning the Marsh pride got moved off their mound by a herd of buffalo?

    Hi Marc,

I didn't see Jonathan Scott when I was there, Angie was alone in her own vehicle. The most memorable part of this day for me was that the pride had collected what looked like a plastic oil container from presumably one of the safari vehicles. It was sad to see as it was not natural in my eyes but they behaved liked a set of puppies with a new toy. I will post an image of the oil can antics one day.....

    Cheers

Lovely image Austin. I would have liked to see a little more separation between the one cub and its mother, but this works very well too.

This is such lovely posing by the lions, I love the cub on the right and the eyes on the lioness. The two left hand cubs and a wonderful depth to the image. I like the POV you've taken the photo from.

    Austin,

This reminds me of the wonderful sighting we had earlier this year in Hwange, except that we had the joy of no other vehicles interrupting our sighting, but paid for it by not having much open space.

I love the cub at the rear LHS.

Now I will go to have a look at the rest.

Family & cubs always gets the cute factor and this one falls into that category. Mum nicely focused, with cubs being cubs, carefree. Personally would like to see a tad more space top & bottom, just feel it's a little tight. Seems you had a good time Austin.

    One for Bebington?;)

Austin - Another lovely image with a great POV. Love the cub trotting alongside mama and agree with Ken about the oof cub in the left rear.

Great sighting Austin, and just love the low perspective here. The walking pose of the cub on the right puts this over the top. Excuse my ignorance, but who is Angela Scott?
