    Default Youngster

Taken in the Sabi Sands in the late morning so the light had already become a bit harsh. This was one of several juveniles in the herd who seemed interested in playing with us. I wish I had a little more room on top but this was as wide as the 100-400 would go and the ellie was rather close.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Echo Harshads comment here Rachel, just too tight and the angle is rather boring. Perhaps a tighter crop might work better and add a bit more interest to the image?:)

A little blunt (sorry), but I know you want the comments to be honest.

    cheers
    Steve ;)

Hi Rachel, having just returned from Kruger, its always great to see these wonderful animals. I like how the ellie is holding the branch with his trunk. I like the natural surroundings.

Rachel, I tend to agree with Steve here but considering the fact that the elephant was doing interesting things perhaps you could have zoomed in a bit and tried to catch some action with the stick. You had plenty of fire power at your disposal.

    Rachel,

It is always nice to see Elephants play, the FG grass detracts a little from the image, I would liked more room rather than less.

Interesting to see your comments on the limitations of the 100-400, Elephants was the reason I changed to 28-300mm.

    Rachel,

It is always great to see Elephants play, the FG grass is a bit of a nuisance, but as Stuart said "natural".

Interesting to see your comments on the" limitations" of the 100-400, taking Elephant pictures was the main reason I changed to 28-300.

Thanks everyone for the comments. I posted it because I wasn't sure about the image so your comments are helpful.

Ken - I probably should have grabbed my second body and had the 16-35 on it but a friend was using the camera at the time. I agree about the grass in the foreground being distracting.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel
