Default OK, I had a few minutes on my hands.

    Attached Images Attached Images

    Nikon D300
    Tamron 11-18mm
    Manual exposure @ 4 seconds F14
    Flash, manual @ 0
    ISO 800

Sid and I had about an hour wait before we could be seated in the Steak House (Sid ate a steak, please don't tell his mom). I try to always have a camera with me.

This evening I had a camera, lens, flash and my buddy Sid.

I hand held the camera propped up against the tree, front of the lens touching the trunk of that tree.

While I zoomed the lens during the 4 second exposure, I would call to Sid to fire the flash from his position about 20 ft away.

That night I created an image I like, enjoyed the company of a good friend and ate a killer steak(Medium Rare - Thank You)!! Not a bad evening.

Sweet! Love the thought process and the resulting image, very cool. Super misty, mystical look. Medium rare is the way to go...

I like the tones and colours of this image and the almost scary way the branches are stretching out over the viewer. Thanks for sharing the thoughts behind the image.

Medium for me, medium rare is just too bloody!!

James, Great perspective and awesome technique. I like the way you designed the image and executed it in-camera. Nice work! Sid-Did he let you take a shot and did he flash the light for you;) I like the color streaks at the top and the way some of the branches look like shadows. I do wish that the bottom branches weren't there but then it might look too perfect and sometimes too perfect can look unnatural.:)

Now thats a cool idea, you could even just have a friend with a flash fire it without a camera...food for thought. Lovely resulting image, colors and shadows rock. Nothing like doing something you love, with friends...TFS
