Around this time, there is a build up of Starlings on the Somerset Levels, literally millions come during the winter. I was happy with these three ... !

Nice exposure and background, I think perhaps just a little more sharpening on the starlings would help lift the image.

I always think that starlings are much nicer birds than people give them credit for.

In line with Jonathan's comment, the birds look a little soft, and perhaps this could be helped by some sharpening.

What I am missing is that none of the birds have a great head angle, and because of this I do not feel drawn into the image by any of the individuals eyes.

Given the dimensions, it seems that this is a crop. A little more space to the left, if you have it, would make this a more pleasing composition.

OK ... the repost responds to your suggestions .. am just wondering if I want to loose that extra bit of branch to the right though ... the birds have been sharpened with a little dodging around the eye!

None of the birds are looking towards the viewer but that is part of the picture!?

The sharpening has improved theimage. the removal of the branch - well I am not so sure this was a good idea, I liked the way it contained the image now it seems a little open if you see what I mean.

If you read my post, you'll see that I do ... there is such a thing as asymmetry after all!

Like the second version. Very clean image and I like the position of the birds.

Amano. I like the repost. The lightening of the eyes and sharpening made a big difference.

    Good job!
