Well the Hooptie Deux is no longer a pontoon boat. It's now a Tritoon;)
I added a third "log" and increased payload, performance and handling.
So what do I call her?
Hooptie Trois, Hooptie Deux 2.0 or just leave it as the Hooptie Deux.
The Hooptie history, but first the definition of "Hooptie" as found in the Urban Dictionary.
- A car that tends to be older often with an addition of shiny rims and a lowering of the suspension.
- Any car that the owner has spent more money on trying to spice it up than it is worth.
- Any car, typically an older or particularly cheap model, which has had more than its value's worth invested in aftermarket modifications.
The first boat I used (and still own) to conduct my "Day On The Bay" workshops was a 17' 1985 Polar Craft with a 70hp Johnson Motor.
The cost of trim tabs, jackplate, stainless props, electronics, paint, new decking and carpet when totaled exceeded what I paid for the boat. And it looked and ran sweet!!
I had just finished putting the boat together and was admiring my handy work when I realized - I owned a marine Hooptie ride.
While my pontoon boat(second boat;)) is a much newer, nicer boat, it just felt right to call it the Hooptie Deux. I did add a massive stereo, that alone is almost a qualifier.
