    This looks very nice. What was the background. I like the dappled look of it.

    You say this was a 50% crop, so if you have it I would like to see a little more space all around and especially below and left.

    Can you also post the EXIF information?

    This is an impressive photo considering the speed of these little birds when they dive. I agree that the bird needs some space "to dive into" left and below.

    Bill:

    Glad you got the image up, it is really nice. Agree with more diving room, but the basics are there. The lighting was a bit uneven, and I might do a little selective dodging to bring up the head and bill a bit more.

    Nice job capturing him in full dive!

    A composition in which one alters the frame by 90% would result in a bird doing something it does not ... a backward dive!
    Kingfishers do not go in for the Olympics!

    I think Paolo meant more of a vertical crop...
