    This was taken few days ago. Settings were -

    7D Sigma 50-500mm @ 500mm
    1/5000 sec, f/8 Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -1 ISO: 800

    Adjusted for levels and saturation. Applied nr and usm on the web version. Your c&c will be appreciated.

    Indranil,

    I like this capture. Nicely placed within the comp and the upward angle of the bird is nice.

    Indranil:

    Nice full up wing position capture, with nice details in the darker areas. I would have expected you to need a bit of + EC here with the dark subject against the sky.
    Too bad about the damage primary feathers.

    Nice composition.

    Thanks Randy, I was focusing on white pelicans and in shadows when this cormorant took off. I did not get a chance to change the EC. I was surprised that I did not clip the blacks when I previewed it. I guess the bright sun compensated the negative EC!

    Good job with the exposure on a difficult character, and I like the flying posture with the extended wing. The light looks good.
