    Default Avoiding Ghosting - HDR

I took a photo of a field of cattle at sunset for a friend who wants to blow up the image. The suns last rays were hitting the mountains leaving the cattle dark, so I took a second exposure for the cattle and merged the two images in Photomatix. Some of the cattle were moving, causing ghosting in the final image. I use the Tonemapping portion of PM. I also tried the 'Generate HDR Image' tab in PM which allows a Normal and High setting for reducing ghosting. None of these attempts were successful in reducing the ghosting. Any ideas on what I can do? I typically use Photoshop Elements for my post processing.

    Thanks.

Try www.stuckincustoms.com. I recall seeing some stuff there on how to deal with it.

    Eric,
Does photomatix put out a file with photoshop layers so you can choose blending? For example, ptgui does this (and does hdr too). Here is their tutorial on how to deal with moving subjects. I'm not sure if this will help you, but at least it is a start.

Thanks guys. I'll read up on this a little more and see what works best.

Thanks Chris. That method looks good, but I'll have to learn how to work with layer masks, something I'm sure you guys use regularly. I've put it off because Photoshop Elements 2.0 doesn't make it easy to do. I've heard it can be done though, so I'll look around for help on that.

Oops, I missed the Elements part you mentioned in the original post. I did a quick search and you can emulate the layer masks with Elements. I don't know how effective it is.
