I photographed this Brown Pelican, and his siamese reflection, in Florida on the SW Florida IPT February, 2010. As this was my 1st time photographing with the Big Boys I wanted to do everything they did, even standing in freezing cold water :D!

    Canon 40D, Canon 70-200 f2.8 L IS + 1.4x, ISO 400, f5.6, 1/2500, tripod

    c & c very welcome.

    Nancy:

Lovely colors, good looking pelican, nice comp.
For my eye the bird is right on the edge of being oversharpened. I think it could stand a CW rotation, based on the tip of the bill and the reflection of same.

The image would be even stronger if the water had been stiller, giving a more perfect reflection.

    Cheers

    Randy

Looks like you had some nice warm light. Good colours overall, and I like the reflecting ripples on the body. Nice gradiant on the water. I'd add a bit more room below the reflection if you have it, and agree with some CW rotation. Looks like the pelican may have been looking away a bit (do you have one where the head was swung over a bit more this way?).

Love the colors and the warm light. Sharpness looks fine for my taste. They always have an innocent look about them don't they?

Nancy, I agree w/ the comments already made. I might back off the contrast just a hair if it were mine. I like the sharp details and reflection. The image really pops and we did have a great time on the IPT.

Lovely light and colours, and I like the relaxed pose. I agree with the others regarding some rotation, and good to see the full reflection.

Thank you all. I did take a series of this bird and will check for other head angles, and incorporate the other suggestions. They can look coy, can't they :).
