The reason why this mare succumbed to the Hyenas was because she was heavily pregnant and fell behind.
Here this Hyena makes off with the unborn foal.

Yet again, a good image of what life is like in the Mara and taking any tit bits is always on the cards. The bloody face gives the image substance and shows what frenzy took place. Would prefer a fraction more on the rhs and less at the foot, I feel it's a little to central in the depth?

    Cheers Marc

    Marc,

Very nice if not awful, at least it is not squirming. ;)

I think a little more "walk into" space may help.

You have seen and photographed some incredible moments of true wildlife. Looking forward to see more of the series.
Bloody head gives tells the story for sure. Little more eye contact would make this strong image even stronger. Fantastic.

Marc - this is an extremely powerful image. I really like that you were able to isolate this in the tall grass. Congrats on an amazing capture. Looking forward to more from the series and trip.

    Marc,

Nicely done. I would agree some crop from the bottom would be good. Left to right placement works OK with me. Uniform look to the grass makes for no distractions so your attention stays on the Hyena and prey.

gory image and shows how hard life in Africa can be for the animals. I agree with Steve's crop suggestions and anxiously await more in this series!

    Great capture, Marc.

I had a look through your smugmug album. Looks like a very productive trip.
