This is a simple b&w conversion from a blur I did in the Mara. No real pp involved except curves, levels and sharpening. Quite a large crop but fortunately for these type of images, I don't think that matters too much.

I find this a very artistic image, it gives the feeling of activity and the 'buzz' surrounding the migration without the obvious hordes of animals. Subtle but effective rather than the sledgehammer effect which makes for a nice change. The stripes of the zebras in the background give a nice, graphic feel and I love the eye and the gleam on the front hoof of the wildebeest.

Well done Stephen, the arched back and visible eye really enhance here.

Very graphic Stephen and congrats on thinking of conveying a different approach to this. The zebra wave really makes it., however I just wonder if a crop off the top might work?

    Stephen,

Right on. Great blur and going B&W a great idea. I do find it a bit to mid-tone given the drama in the image and with B&W, pumping up contrast IMO will help. Try a strong S-curve to make the whites brighter and the blacks darker. I tried one with the blacks clipping and the white bright and really like it.

    Good stuff here. ;)

Thanks everyone. Robert, I tried a strong s-curve but personally it doesn't work for me. Mind showing me what you achieved?
