    Default Comb Duck with chick

    My first test with 1D Mark IV, 500 F/4, 1.4tc, 2xtc stacked
    1/640, f/13, ISO 640

it was way too far and the reason for choosing stacking is to grab such records so not much concerned about portrait facility but to capture the beauty from such distance. the heat over the water affected a bit and so the iso is bit high i suppose but focus was really good at 1DMark IV and just loved how it really came out.

taken with spot focus single shot setting in camera.

Please someone expert share some tips on how to use stacking as it was done on field first time with 1.4 tc attached to camera and 2x attached after that to lens. share some more tips on how to use exactly to grab some nice records of such sightings.

Mital, I think you did great with 1400mm of focal length. Both birds are quite sharp and the color and exposure are fine. I can't give you any gear advice, having only worked briefly with the 500mm f/4 with the 1.4X extender, but after seeing what you were able to accomplish with both extenders attached, I'm very impressed.

thanks josh for your kind reply. I am also looking for info on why the exif shows just 1000mm instead 1400mm when both tc attached.

Mital, I seem to recall reading somewhere that when two extenders are used with a Canon camera, only one -- the extender attached to the lens -- is reported to the camera body. Not sure if I'm correct on this point, but it agrees with your result (the 2X was reported to the camera to give 1000mm in the EXIF data).

Mital, You ask for help here but the image is so sharp that you should be giving lessons :) I love the birds; a bit of crop from the bottom would work for me.

thanks a lot artie sir. i am more looking forward towards best use of the stacking feature to grab such beautiful things as birds at our place are not so co-operative even though you put hide as the un-aware human intervention is so high and they prepared themselves to make distance for privacy.

yet to try more with stacking.
