    Default Giraffe Head Shot

Taken in the Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa on the morning game drive. It was an overcast morning, hence the bright bg.

    Canon 50D
    100-400 at 275mm
    1/640
    f8
    ISO 400
HH from the safari vehicle. Curves adjustment to bring out the hint of blue in the sky.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

    Rachel

    Hi Rachel,
I like those chin whiskers! On my monitor he looks a bit dark and I'm wondering if there is a bit of a cyan cast?

Quite hard to get these heads against the sky and I find that the giraffe looks a bit flat and dull and perhaps an extra round of USM would also be in order. I do like the quirky way the mouth is positioned.

Thanks for the comments. Here's a repost. I lightened the head, boosted the contrast and did another round of USM.

Prefer the repost Rachel, perhaps a little tight in frame.

I am viewing this on an uncalibrated monitor so my comments should be taken with a large pinch of salt;)

The facial expression you could only get from a Giraffe, but the skin colour looks a little too light for me, more red than brown, composition is fine.
