This was our second ever sighting of this member of the Haartebeest family (previously in Kafue, Zambia), at least they were within a reasonable distance this time.

Taken in Saadani National Park, Tanzania, 10th September 2010

Ken - congrats on the rare sighting. I like the comp on this a lot and the pose, the grass in the mouth adds to it. I might up the contrast a little. Although it looks like it may have been overcast?

A nice portrait of the animal showing their pale colouring. Wondering if the head is quite sharp, at least the muzzle? I like the surrounding vegetation.

never even seen a specimen of this rare species so I am going to refrain from critiquing and just enjoy the shot as if I was there :)

    Thanks for the comments.

This Haartebeeste is very light in colour in comparison to other subspecies.

    Yes it was very overcast.
