First post on this forum! What do you guys think? Does this look over-sharpened? Too dark?
Why did the cranes cross the road? To get to the field on the other side!

Welcome to the forum, I'm new here also, so hopefully some of the more experienced will weigh in on your shot.
First the cranes look good and at least for me look fine for brightness. Judging from the background elements I think you need to do a slight rotation to straighten the image. I would suggest also cropping the foreground off and cloning out the poles (maybe tree trunks) and signs in the background.
Welcome to the forum Albert!! The repost looks much nicer and cleaner. Just a bit of work to do around the back bird's head and a bit more room at right (if you have it) and you're good to go. Had the front bird turned its head toward you a wee bit more that may have been enough to lighten the eye (judging from the back bird's lit face). As is you could selectively lighten it by working at close magnification with the dodge tool.
Albert:
A big welcome to BPN. Good advice already given. The repost is a significant improvement, with the caveats mentioned by Daniel. I do think the image could go about 1/3 stop brighter as well.
Please be sure to include your camera/lens and post processing data. This really helps us understand the image better and offer more useful critiques.
Cheers
Randy
Thank you Daniel and Randy for your suggestions.
Here's version 3. (Nikon D300, Sigma 300mm f2.8 w/1.4 TC @ 1/640s ISO 200 420mm f4.5, converted from NEF using ACR 6.2.0.29 processed in Photoshop CS5).
I cleaned up the area around the back bird's head, lightened the front bird's eye and surrounding area, added more room to the right, and added 1/3 stop exposure:

Nice job of improving this image. The second repost is a sig. improvement.
You will often get suggestions on BPN on how to improve or change and image, and I think it is often valuable to try them out, see if they work for you. I don't always repost the updated version, but do let people know what I thought of it.
Looking forward to more.
Cheers
Randy
Much improved from the beginning photo to the last shot posted.
The last repost is definitely better. nice job on improving the image
