Last Spring I was very excited when I discovered a pair of Brown Creepers building a nest. I couldn't believe my luck and quickly envisioned a nice little photography project with these guys for the weeks ahead. The very same night a nasty storm with very high winds blew over the region. The next morning when I visited the nest location I found that the storm had blew away all the bark off and spoiled any opportunity for this species to succesfully nest on that easily accessible site.:(
I like the bird small in the frame underneath an imposing crevice as this shows what these birds look for in a nesting location...next time you see peeling bark off a tree like this in early Spring just wait a few moments ...a Creeper or two might emerge from it!
Nicely done: EXP, SHARP, and DESIGN. Wish only that the bird's head were titled slightly more towards you.
Later and love, artie

Nice going, Dan,
Creepers are such active birds -- you clicked at just the right microsecond! Thanks for the habitat note. I have a red alder snag with exfoliating bark right off the back deck, and a brown creeper patrols it periodically, but very quickly. So far, blurred images:(, but there's hope! I really like your composition.

I remember your excitement over this find Dan and then when we went there after the storm your disappointment at the loss of the bark , lets hope that this Creeper I've had some success with this winter sticks around and he finds a mate this spring ,,, by the way I love every thing about this shot , like Artie said a slight head turn would be nice , but with a Creeper that would be akin to winning a lottery
