I noticed that this dragonfly will fly around and come back to the same area and hover for few seconds, so I wait until it was hovering and shoot several frames. It took me about 30 minutes to get this shot.

Dragonflies are creatures of habit. They usually pick the same perches too. They also seem to love unattractive sticks to land on :)

Good catch here but I'm not too crazy about the angle and the lighting isn't the greatest. I think dragonflies in flight are more difficult than birds :)

In Florida it seems like they only land on dead, moldy, broken off sticks!

Raul good capture of a difficult subject. Dragonflies are one of my favourite subjects but I've never been able to capture one in flight. As Al noted I just wish that it had turned around for you.

Neat image, you managed to get a sharp shot with enough DOF. If only it were facing the other direction...

    Hello Raul,

Not easy to catch a dragonfly flying and you successed well here :-)

It is just a pity that the insect was not facing you instead...

    Good job !
