    Default Deception Pass

This is an old photo from 2005 with my first SLR, the Canon 20D. I think it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited and I wanted to share the lovely vista. Deception Pass is between Whidbey Island and Washington Mainland, north of Seattle. This view is looking South just past the bridge.

Due to lack of detail in the distance, I decided to use Topaz Simplify on it. I also used Topaz Detail just on the distant trees and sky to bring it out a little.

Nice mixing of the filters to even out the scene. I like the view and think that the two FG trees add interest.

Nicely done Judy. I like the effect you have created with the filters mentioned. I think the FG trees really make this composition work. Good choice to include them.

Judy, this does look like a beautiful place and reminds me of some spots along the Columbia River. Nice effect and bright colors. I like the way the bit of land in the lower left corner is balanced by the clouds in the upper right. Well done!

    Judy,

Greetings. This is a very beautiful place and it looks like you had good weather for this shot. I wonder how a bit more contrast in the far trees might look. I've not used simplify but with posterization sometimes over contrasting before applying the posterization (simplify in this case) has an interesting impact.

    Thanks for posting this one.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-
