    Default Ring-necked Punk...

While in Phoenix I photographed this species almost exclusively. This is one of a blast-burst. All were razor sharp; some of the images were perfectly framed while others were not. This is my favorite pose but it was necessary to add canvas (and lots of water from another frame via a Quick Mask) to the bottom.

Canon 500mm f/4L IS lens with the 1.4X II TC and the EOS-1D MIII. ISO 400. Evaluative metering -1/3 stop: 1/1600 sec. at f/7.1.

Don't be shy; all comments welcome. And later and love, artie

    Hi Artie,
The pose is absolutely excellent, love the framing and detail in the blacks. However, it is much too dark (I checked the histogram in PS) IMO especially in the highlights. Is there any particular reason that you left it like this?? Otherwise a brilliant shot!

Hi K, The whites look fine and bright here as I peer down at the monitor calibration strip below... In addition, when I opened the JPEG, there was no room at all to move the highlight slider to the left. So, to sum things up, I have no clue!

What a great pose Artie! The wing position is cool, and I like the head being slightly offset to the right of the neck/chest. I'm undecided about the black spot in the reflection....

Very cool pose, details and BG. It could go a bit brighter for my taste.

Great detail on dark and whites. Not too dark on my screen. Excellent.
