    Default Resting Swan

Taken toward the last part of the day and fighting to retain detail within the feathers. I just found the stark contrast of the swan & BG rather appealing, especially with that beady eye. You can see where I have 'lifted' it to try and retain the detail :( Any thoughts & advice welcome.

I like the image, like the light the eye contact and the contrast between cold and warm colors ... the longert I look at it the more I think a tighter crop would improve it ... imho the wing on the right part draws too much attention.

    Just an idea

I am sorry, but know for my taste too much empty space above... but yes for my taste you are going in the right direction. ... I would even consider a vertical crop (the v formed by the wings the eye a little left of the center and the bird 2/3 of the picture the background about 1/3) ... sorry for my complicated description but until I am back home I can't up- and download

Hi Steve, good side lighting effect, which in turn has brought out good feather detail on the head. I like the dark blue BG, and your repost does look better.

Great exposure and detail Steve! Some noise visible in the white shadowed feathers..Like the blue BG.

I know Dumay, not ideal, but hey it's worth a punt :D. As I said, light was fading fast, be good to try it again if the opportunity offers itself again. :)

Perhaps the whites are just too pure and need to revert back?

    Thanks guys
