White Ibis with a marine worm (a type of lugworm, I think) it has captured via probing in the mud at Ding Darling. This bird is stepping rather briskly as there is a laughing gull just outside the frame trying to steal its meal. The foraging ibises were being closely watched by laughing gulls and a few willets, as well. An Ibis frequently lost all, or part, of its catch (kleptoparasitism). 20D, 500 f/4, 1/2000, f/8, ISO 400. I cleaned up a few background distractions via quick masking.
    Comments welcome.

Great light, details and pose. The snack adds to it. I only wish for a lower angle.

NIcely done. Like the raised foot. The pink of the face could be lightened a bit. The Willets and the black-bellieds love those same tidbits.

Well done, Steve. You description explains the backward glance. A shot including the kleptoparasite would be good as a behavioral illustration

I like your mentioning of other opportunistic birds present, makes one imagine the situation and look at the image differently. Well done.
